Artist Statement

I explore the intensity of the moment in my paintings to seek emotional and spiritual truths that lie beyond the surface. I find inspiration in the natural world, especially the ocean and the cosmos. My Indian heritage influences my sense of intense and vibrant color. I am searching for energetic connections amongst the vastness.

My gestural abstract paintings are created using dense acrylic glazes, bold brushwork, graphite, and crayon. I am interested in color, contrast, gesture, and movement. I immerse myself physically in the process. I paint dense layers of stain, playing with the ideas of transparency and opacity.  My world is engulfed by the painting as I walk over and around the canvas. I make bold continuous lines that extend beyond the canvas and then find their way back.

Artist Bio

Tina Vora Logan is an abstract artist based in Florida. She is driven to express the power, beauty, and energy of life through vibrant color and intense brushwork. She works primarily with acrylic and canvas.

Her current process involves working directly with the canvas on the floor, mixing various stains to saturate the surface. She is guided by memories of shimmering jewel tones and tropical landscapes from India, her ancestral home, as well as sunny hues from her beloved lush world in Florida. Tina lets the painting unfold intuitively as each mark informs the next. She then transfers the canvas to the wall and using expressive gesture, allows the painting to reveal itself.

Tina has received a B.S. in Biology and an M.D. She is currently in the Art Students League of New York’s intensive Certificate Program. She is studying with artists Ronnie Landfield and Deborah Winiarski.
